Spring Cleaning

Since Spring is right around the corner and warmer weather is upon us, it’s never too early to get your home, deck, and patio in tip-top shape for weekend gatherings and barbeques.

HERE ARE A FEW TIPS TO GET YOU STARTED!

Check the garage and basement for cobwebs and remove them.
Work from the top down.
Dust the walls and ceilings for cobwebs in every room.
Check your light fixtures and door and window trim.
Check all closets, clothing rods.
Check largest furniture first and then move to smaller pieces.
Shampoo carpets.
Strip wood floors.
Polish all metals and glass objects.
Do the perimeter rooms first before the ones in the middle.
Dust all ledges of doors, windows, trim on furniture.
Check the patio.
Remove debris, leaves, mildew and mold.
Use 1/3 cup of laundry detergent to one gallon of hot water.
Scrub with a stiff nylon brush.
Rise thoroughly with fresh water.
Add one quart of liquid chlorine bleach to remove mildew.
Use a deck cleaning or brightening product to restore the natural wood.
Use concrete cleaner to remove oxidation on concrete to restore patio cement.
Use rubber gloves and eye protection at all times.
Make repairs as needed, securing fasteners.
Apply a fresh coat of deck finish when done.
