Senator John McCain wins the GOP nomination as Former Governor Mike Huckabee (Huckster), concedes. The Huckster ran a great campaign on limited funds and stayed in the race until the end. Personally, I have gained respect for the man and I thought he was the best campaigner out of the Republican group. Senator McCain on the other hand sits in a wonderful position to start building his base and preparing for the general election. McCain, the POW candidate was all but dead in the race a year ago. Proving that endurance is the key to any winner.
Senator Hillary Clinton regained her base (women, latinos and the elderly) in a much needed win, winning Ohio, Rhode Island, and Texas. Senator Barack Obama won Vermont and as he stated in his speech, is still leading in the delegate count. Unfortunately, with McCain clenching the GOP nomination, this puts the Democratic party at a disadvantage with no clear winner in sight. There are twelve more races remaining and the Democratic party is hoping to have a nominee-or so we hope!
*Upcoming races/delegate count: Wyoming-12 delegates, Mississippi-33 delegates, Pennsylvania-158 delegates
